Amazingly, it is almost Seafood Festival time again
We're amazed to look out our windows and walk out our front doors to discover that fall is once again upon us. Halloween will soon be here, closely followed by the Florida Seafood Festival here in Apalachicola, Florida
Some time ago, Hollis began a project she had been thinking about for a number of years. She set out to make a "Doors of Apalachicola" poster, utilizing some of the unique and beautiful doorways of our Historic Town to give an impression of the flavor and atmosphere of our area. She soon determined that photographs just weren't doing what she wanted and engaged Gainesville Artist Annie Pais to help with the project. Annie painted nineteen original watercolors of Apalachicola doorways, which were then utilized to create the "Doors of Apalachicola" we now have. We are proud of the poster and what it conveys about our area and are extremely happy with the work of the artist, Annie Pais, in helping bring Hollis' idea to fruition.
This is all by way of an introduction to an invitation. You are cordially invited to a Meet The Artist reception the evening of November 14th, 2008 from 6PM to 8PM at our High Cotton location, 127 Commerce Street in Apalachicola. Annie Pais will be on hand to meet with the public and we will debut a showing of the original nineteen watercolors that Ms. Pais has painted for our Doors of Apalachicola project. The show will be hung through the end of December but we would like to see all of you at the opening to join us and the artist for this event.
