Hello to all our new and old friends,

We're fast approaching the Holiday Season, a fact that has been highlighted by changes in our days and in the weather. The days are growing much shorter, a chill is in the air, particularly in the evenings, and autumn is in full and beautiful swing here in the panhandle of Florida. In celebration of Autumn, we have the third movement of "Autumn", from Vivaldi's "The Four Seasons". If you prefer, you can turn off the music or change the volume using the controls on the player at the bottom of this section.

We may not have all the color associated with the leaves turning in the northeast, but the changes in our surroundings are unmissable and beautiful in their own way. The birds on their migration paths are stopping by our area for their bi-annual visit and many species that winter here are returning to their old residences and sweeping out the summer dust in an explosion of activity and song. The cold fronts have started coming through, dropping the humidity as well as the temperatures and bringing brisk breezes. Offshore fishing has been a bit slow, with winds keeping many boats in the bay, but the river and bay offer countless spots out of the wind where the fish are lively and the vistas are unmatched.

Halloween has come and gone in a blur of goblins, witches and Power Rangers along with cauldrons of candy and great piles of pumpkins. Thanksgiving is just around the corner, reminding us of all we have to be thankful for and bringing fond thoughts of past family feasts and gatherings and high hopes for a future as full and bountiful as our great nation's past.

From all of us at the Artemis Gallery and from our families to you and yours go our best wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving.

Holidays are almost upon us. Apalachicola has once again planned a fabulous celebration the day after Thanksgiving. This Celebration will light up Apalachicola from 4:30-8:00 pm. The streets of downtown will be lined with luminaries and filled with holiday spirit. Merchants will be open late and the sounds of carolers will echo through the streets filling the evening with Christmas spirit. The highlight, of course, will be the big guy himself. Santa arrives via shrimp boat at 4:00 pm at the City Dock on Water Street. Santa will hear children's Christmas wishes and carolers will sing. Join us for an old-fashioned Christmas celebration!
