Conor O'Brien | Oil on Wood Panel or Linen Canvas
Conor paints mostly scenes of northern Alabama and southern Tennessee. More recently he has been traveling along the Gulf Coast of Florida, painting scenes of this area.
The majority of his work is on prepared wood panels, sometimes with texture applied. He uses a limited palette consisting of warm and cool versions of the three primary colors (blue, red and yellow) as well as two greens and white. He also uses two earth colors and almost never uses black. His only medium is a mixture of turpentine and linseed oil.

More About Conor O'Brien
In the artist's own words...
“It's a little difficult to say why I paint about a particular place. For me, the aesthetic considerations when expe- riencing a location involve more than any “traditional” beauty. The abstract shapes of the land and the angles formed by perspective and their juxtaposition to one another interest me. And, there often is some other element about the scene that draws me to it which I can’t explain. To me, there is a beauty and interest in every place and thing.”
“My work has been shown in various regional museums of art, galleries, and is in a number of private collections mostly in the northeastern and southeastern USA.”
“I hope you enjoy viewing the paintings as much as I enjoy painting them.”
