Purchase Art by Francis Frakes
Around 2 AM on September 16, 2004 Hurricane Ivan made landfall in Orange Beach, Alabama. The fourth major hurricane of the year, Ivan caused heavy damage in Alabama. Moving inland and reaching Greenville, Alabama during the night, Ivan blew the tin roofing shingles off St. Thomas Episcopal Church's roof and deposited a large portion of them in neighbor Frances Frakes yard. Frances, a well known Icon Painter, was inspired to use the shingles to create unique pieces of folk/religious art with small vibrant paintings and a Bible verse on each shingle. Frances sells these shingles through the Artemis Gallery and donates a significant portion of her profits to St. Thomas' Outreach Program.
The shingles measure approximately 16" square and are priced at $75 each. We have a large selection of verses in stock and while Frances does not do specific requests we may well have a favorite verse of yours. To check our current inventory you can call us at 850 653 2030 and we will let you know what we have in stock or do our best to answer specific requests.

Our shingle has this verse from Isaiah 11:7...
"The wolf will live with the lamb,
The leopard will lie down with the goat,
and the calf and the lion and the yearling together.
And a little child will lead them.
Amen"
