About John Spohrer

John is a Louisiana native who was born to be a photographer and writer.

He graduated from Louisiana State University with a degree in Journalism in 1969. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army in 1972. He studied creative writing at Florida State University from 1982-1985 under Jerry Stern and Janet Burroway.

John moved to St. George Island in 1980 and now lives with his wife Helen and their three dogs and one turtle on ninety-six acres on the north shore of Round Bay in Franklin County, Florida. Their land is dedicated to wildlife assistance and conservation. The family is a financial supporter of The Franklin County Humane Society and St. Joe Wildlife Rescue and urges your consideration of these two special organizations.
